Our Story
I graduated from the University of Vermont in 2018 with a degree in Conservation and Environmental Science. Since then, I have worked at many levels within the conservation field, most consistently with Vermont land trusts and wildlife conservation efforts in Yellowstone National Park.
Through this work, I have come to understand the critical importance of thoughtful land stewardship and ecological restoration on conserved lands in Vermont—particularly in riparian corridors, which play an essential role in water quality, wildlife habitat, and ecosystem resilience.
Reforesting Vermont, and the broader East Coast, is essential for both natural ecosystems and human communities as we face the growing impacts of climate change.
Weathered Tree was founded with this mission in mind. The nursery focuses on collecting native oak seeds, germinating them, and growing bare-root trees for planting in Vermont’s riparian landscapes. While oaks remain at the heart of the work, the nursery currently produces a range of native species including maple, tamarack, and speckled alder—trees that help restore healthy forests and strengthen resilient waterways
